1. what is 'happiness' means to you ?

Happiness is being able to connect with friends (be they old, new, online or real time), family you love and of course, creating works that you adore!

2. can you share the story behind Jinjerup ?

Jinjerup came about when I decided to stop worrying about whether I could do what I love and to just do it! :) Jinjerup creates designs which are bright, bubbly, lots of fun & loads of cuteness for everyone!

3. what are the tools for your designs ?

Computer, mouse &  a couple of hands

4. what is your best way to spend a day ?

Being with loved ones, time lost is truly a precious thing.

5. can you share us your 5 most fav designs and why ?

1. what is your definition of 'happiness'

 I don’t think I have any specific definition of happiness. As the saying goes, to be truly happy and contented, you must let go of what it means to be happy or content !

2.     what inspire you to make beautiful designs

 I love seeing beautiful things and I love fashion. So yes, fashion is a good source of inspirations J

3.     can you please list down 5 fav things of yours 

That would be my camera, my camera, my camera, my camera & my camera ! 

(though it belongs to my sister actually)

4.     what is your hope and dream for the future 

This is for sure a dream of all cardmakers, to have our very own craft shop. I have always wanted to have a little craft shop and an apron to wear to work everyday, so perhaps one day, I will. InsyaAllah.

5.     what is your way to live life everyday 

By living one day at a time. And by realizing that I can't control everything and sometimes I have to learn to go with the flow (yes, I am a panic freak)

My 5 most memorable designs would be:

This is my very first attempt at creating a Trishutter Card. I made this for my sister, after her engagement. It took a while for me to finish this card, unlike nowadays.

  I designed this card in March 2010 but my sister wanted it to be reserved for her wedding invitation. So we reproduced the design in November 2010 and this design remains one of my personal favourite due to its simplicity.

 I heart this simply because I designed it for my mom, and it kinda reminds me why I started making cards in the first place.

1. what is your definition of 'happiness'

Happiness to me is to do things that you love, and love things that you do, and be blessed in doing it. :)

2. what inspire you to make beautiful designs

I got inspired from everything around me. I'm a quiller, so everytime I look at something beautiful, the first thing that came to mind was - can I quill this? (I see almost everything in swirly mode!) I also have this habit of snapping pictures of everything that inspires me. I remember going to a dinner one day and instead of taking pictures of everyone, I ended up taking more pictures of what they're wearing (with a "Hey! I could quill this!). Even my phone is full of weird pictures - from kitchen utensils to book covers to children's gowns (I personally think chidren's clothes are some of the most-inspired colour combinations ever!).

3. can you please list down 5 fav things of yours

- my laptop
- my portable hard disk
- my tons of papers
- my phone
- my handmade idea book

4. what is your hope and dream for the future

I just wish to inspire people.

5. what is your way to live life everyday

I don't want regrets so I'm enjoying every single day of my life. Love yourself first, then only others will be able to love you. Even if something goes wrong, it doesn't mean that it's the end of the world. Allah gives us rain, not only to have rainbows afterward, but for us to enjoy the beauty of the rain itself. :)

I made this with the thought of the carriage that took Cinderella to the ball. The colour combination was simply a reminder of how people always perceived Cinderella as a happily-ever-after fairy tale. At that time, I had just finished reading on the origins of classic fairy tales and telling tales from different point of view, so I was totally  inspired by that

There should be a tree in my garden that could grow lollipops and marshmallows and sweets - and I made the card thinking exactly that. :P Months later, a friend went to South Korea and found a real-life multi-coloured tree that reminds her of this card. She couldn't help but snap a picture to tell me about it. I was beyond excited!

This is a simple card that has ME written all over it. :P. I don't know how to explain, but I simply love everything about this card. I love shades of green, I love black, I love swirls, and I love the simplicity of it.

This is my first altered-album, and my first try at quilling on other types of materials than the usual paper that I normally use. (yes, I love repetitive patterns!)

answers :

1. Happiness is being thankful for what we have. Been growing up in a poor family, I've taught myself to appreciate all the simple and small things that came to life. I believe love is more powerful than money. We will be happy if we do something that we love or simply do something to cheer our loved ones.

2. The nature, our daily surroundings and love. God's creations come in the best form of design for our reference. The shades of colors, shapes, lines and texture, everything is freely displayed in front of our eyes. For example, sometimes when I see a tree, I try to imagine how it would look, drawn on paper and the chronology of colors and lines to be used to build up the layers to achieve the picture that I have in mind. Apart of that, I always pay attention to details of almost everything; the packaging of products on a supermarket's shelves, signboards, advertisements, book covers, fabric patterns, textures, vehicle wheels, furnitures, etc.

Whenever something gets to my attention, I like to imagine how it is created, the materials, process and techniques involved or maybe what are the things that inspired the person who produce it. Whenever I want to try something new, I always study it first; from books, websites or online tutorial, get the basic knowledge and my own on-hands-experience. I believe when someone is serious about learning something, they should make efforts rather than just simply ask basic questions from experts.

Apart from these, I think love has been one of my greatest source of inspirations. It is a drive that just simply make me want to keep on creating. I think of my family, friends and even my blog readers. When we put love into our thoughts, we will feel guilty if we do not produce something full-heartedly. I get lots of inspiration from my husband too, he is full of ideas, very dilligent, creative and talented in his own way. Though it may not be in the form of design, but in the form of how I should carry and bring my arts forward. Over the years of knowing him, he has become the person that I look up most to.

3. 1) 0.3 Pentel mechanical pencil 2) a U-wood carving tool with broken tip (mended to the holder with a cotton thread knot)<---this is my first carving tool and I still use it until today eventhough I already have Speedball carving tools now) 3) A brown messenger bag with brightly colored ethnic motives bought in Hanoi 4) Artline pens 5) Campap 300gsm watercolor paper 4.To be more productive and at the same time to be able to give more of myself and spend more quality time for my husband and family. . 5. Life is about living our life for other people. Don't worry if we want something but we can't get it, you will always get it one day. God will give you something better, if not in this life, maybe in heaven :) Thank you very much Fliffy :)

1. Happiness to me is I am able to go to bed and get up next day with the person I loved, that'd be Mr Handsome each day :)

2. My inspirations come from everywhere. It can be from browsing magazines/blogs to the things that I observe while I am driving.

3. My 5 fav things are my fur babies (cats), patterned papers, owl stamps, my work & food!

4. I hope that I will be a mum soon. This is my biggest dream!

5. To appreciate the little things in life and live to its fullest. Live like there's no tomorrow!

saya selalu membuat banyak rujukan di internet untuk lebih teliti tentang apa yang hendak dilukis...kebanyakkan lukisan saya dilukis dengan spontan sambil mengingat bentuk atau rupa asas sebelum melukis.

1 . Wacom bamboo fun (tablet) - gajet penting untuk melukis...saya selalu melukis secara digital.

Seni bagi Azah Skaliskala ialah seni contengan yang dilahirkan dari jiwanya. Dari hati kita mencipta seni, dan dari hati juga orang akan terpaut dengan seni kita.

Saya seorang self-taught, belajar seni dari pengalaman dan pengamatan sepanjang hayat. Pengalaman hidup mencetus inspirasi semasa saya menconteng. Contoh karakter Bat Star saya cipta sebab dulu banyak kelawar masuk rumah.hehe. Orang yang terdekat juga menjadi pencetus inspirasi seperti kawan-kawan, orang istimewa, famili, orang asing juga. Saya seorang yang suka menerokai dunia seni dan agak rajin mencari tutorial di Internet dan sanggup berhabis duit untuk beli peralatan seni. Jika ditanya sekarang bagaimana saya mendapat inspirasi dalam menghaslkan seni contengan, saya suka menjawab, saya mendapat inspirasi dari buku-buku sejarah saya :)
